In Need of Hair-spiration

That's right people I am in need of some inspiration for my hair. As most of you know, I'm really obsessed with hair, my hair, your hair, models hair, lots of hair. I've had lots of love about my hair style today, messy bun and head scarf combo turned out to be a winner:

But I'm after some help for the weekend, I'm going to a burlesque night and not only do I not know what to where but what to do with my hair? I mean what does one wear to a burlesque night? Old school glamour waves, quiff, I have no clue, ideas on a postcard!

Curly Top

Anyone who reads my blog will probably know by now that I'm obsessed with hair (see previous hair posts here). And as I was flicking through Pinterest as usual and I stumbled on this tutorial for curly hair and like the excitable girl I couldn't wait to try it. A way to get curly hair without tongs, surely it's all lies? Well, here's what I did last night, I washed, spritzed my hair with John Frieda's Luxurious Volume Blow Dry Lotion (which my thin, flat hair would be nothing without) and blow dried it. Then I followed this tutorial, and went to bed. When I woke up this morning, all blurry eyed, I was convinced my hair would be all over the place but no, it was still all perfectly tucked in and when I took it all out I had perfect curls! After some taming of the curls I popped in a bow and achieved the style in this picture. This is my new favourite style, as my hair grows it's only going to get better, yes!! Has anyone else tried curling like this?

Grow hair, grow!

A few months ago I ditched my blonde locks for red, well, orange (previous post here) and I love it. But during my lunch time trawl of Pinterest today I stumbled on this photograph of my favourite lady crush, Christina Hendricks.

Now, that hair is just fabulous, I must start growing my hair immediately. So I'm looking for any tips on hair growing, I'm going to ditch my straighteners as soon as possible and start looking for any products and natural remedies to help my hair grow. Any ideas? Help!

My Hair Twin K. Bosworth

Kate Bosworth has totally stolen my hair style! Outrageous! To be fair though, it's really pretty and what I'd like my hair to look like - after all I did try to dye my hair this kind of blonde and it went grey (I trust you not to laugh too much... click here)

Here's my super blonde version, saved with a ton of Live Colour XXL Absolute Platinum and Stargazer's Tropical Green colour:

Totally copied from me, am I right? Who's your hair twin right now?
If anyone has any ideas of how I can darken my blonde locks please get in touch! Bleaching every three weeks is tiring.

My weekend of hair

Let's catch up with a weekend of hair shall we? So, after ripping apart my giant bow from my previous post (see it here), I managed to salvage the headband for day 12 and a cute, sleek bob.
Then for day 13 I decided to go big again, this time with a scarf for a rare summery day in Glasgow.
For Sunday, aka day 14, I decided to give both me and my hair a well earned day off! So here is my hair pretty much au natural for the first time in two weeks.
And finally, today, day 15, a style I always seem to refer to as the Shove and Pin - shove my hair and and stick pins in until it looks acceptable. It never fails me on a Monday morning when I can't quite focus in the mirror.

Jen's Chop

Everyone's been talking about this new hair cut:

I am reasonably obsessed by hair and especially Jennifer Aniston's hair. From the first time I saw the Rachel cut from Friends, I was hooked. She has the most beautiful hair, whether blonde, smooth and roughed up, or layered and textured. I have total hair envy!

Hair Crush

Not only is this hair band from Garlands Of Grace gorgeous but look at that hair style, how do I even do that?

Get your own hair band here.

Hair-spiration Resolved!

How was everyone's weekend? I've had a great one, visiting my best friends in London! They booked us tickets to the Wam Bam Club at Cafe de Paris and with it being a burlesque night I thought I needed some help coming up with something new to do with my hair. Hair-spiration came from the lovely Kelly from Hair Advice And All Things Nice (see her post here) so the start of this post is a huge thank you to her! I tried out some victory rolls and here's how it turned out:

So back to the Wam Bam Club, I highly recommend it to EVERYONE! My highlight? These guys, Scales of the Unexpected made me laugh so much that I cried, amazing.

Pink Sunday

This Pink Sunday is a hair crush special, in other words it's a heap of photographs of gorgeous pink locks! It's probably a little obvious that I'm slightly pink obsessed...

I can't find where this image is originally from *sob*

See more from BLEACH here.

And whilst I'm talking about pink hair, I can not forget the lovely Kat from Rock'n'Roll Bride who always has the most delightful hair in the world!

So am I right to give into temptation to do this to my hair again:

Answers on a postcard please!

Hairdo A Day - The Side Bun and Curls

I had pretty much forgotten how much a love a good, smooth bun, so it's a good job I found my bun ring for yesterday's (day 9) hairdo. I know that everyone is doing the top knot and high buns but I'm a huge fan of the side bun, it's super pretty - especially with a tiny red bow.
Continuing the hair accessories theme, today (day 10) I went for a curly, Hawaiian look. I blooming love flowers, be they daffodils on my table, daisy chains or a fake flower for my hair, they all put a big smile on my face during this wet weather.
I'm all ready excited because I have the most epic hair accessory for tomorrow!

Hurry up hair and GROW!

The title of this post pretty much sums up my feelings on this photograph. My hair really needs to grow so that I can do this to it:

I just can't get away with two different dip dye colours on my shoulder length hair!

Photograph found here, in the endless pit of inspiration that is Pinterest, which means sadly I can't find the original source.

Hair and make up crush

This Guess advert is pretty self explanatory, this is the reason that I am growing my hair. I hope to grow my hair and wear liquid eye liner, maybe  I should ditch the cupcakes in an attempt to get a waist like that too?

My Year, in Hair Colours...

I'm still in that reflective, new year, lets reminisce about 2012 kind of mood, there's been quite a few things that I'll always remember, finally being diagnosed with a wheat intolerance (so expect some wheat free recipes, the good, the bad, the disastrous will all get a shot on the blog!), screaming at Westlife, finally getting a house bunny, meeting a real life llama, but what's the thing that stands out most for me? My hair, I've been through the lot this year!

It started the year blonde.
 Then accidentally went neon.
Back to blonde, with a moustache, naturally.
 Then red.
Which faded to orange (and I found my hair twin).
 Purple and another moustache.
And finally, I ended the year jet black.

I have every intention of staying dark (I'll try my best anyway) and growing locks until they look like Zooey Deschanel's, because, well look at it!

Red Hair Love!

Since Rihanna appeared on the X Factor a few weeks ago I've been trying to decide whether or not I like her new red hair. Looking at it again today I've decided that I love it. I adore red hair, and having seen these two images it's hard to argue otherwise.

I'd Like Gwen Stacy Hair Please

I love a little bit of geek-ery, I'm not a full blown comic book geek by a long shot but I'm a huge Spiderman fan. I've been in need of some hair-spiration and I just found it Gwen Stacy. So this as of now I am officially growing my hair and bleaching the pink out (well, eventually).

To Cut Or Not To Cut

I have been in a dilemma that every female gets themselves into: do I cut my hair or let it grow? But yesterday I had a moment in Boots where I was inspired to let it grow! As I previously mentioned, I am totally swept up in Mad Men and my firm decision to grow my hair is mainly due to the glamorous up do's in the series. So here is attempt one, more will follow as my hair grows.

Hair: The Frida

Have you ever been obsessed by somewhere you've never been? I have, quite a few times actually.... my current obsession though is Mexico (remember my Mexican Meatball Soup recipe? See it here), the whole place makes me want to cry with joy and it probably stems from the long standing obsession with Frida Kahlo. The Frida obsession seems to be quite widespread at the moment, what with the film Frida in 2002, doesn't Salma Hayek look so much like her?
I've gotten to the point where this Mexican stuff is leaking into my everyday without me even trying. I'm calling my current go to hair style "The Frida" for obvious reasons.
Two plaits, pinned over my head and a flower to top it off. It's so simple for those days when my hair is flat at the top and frizzy at the ends (a constant issue for a compulsive back comber).

I'm trying really REALLY hard not to buy these socks to compliment "The Frida" Modcloth, you're making it so difficult!

Hairdo A Day - Done

I've been a big quiet on the hair front but here's what I've been doing:
Day 16 - the photo isn't so clear but it's a headscarf tied like a turban and I loved it.
Day 17 - the tiny plait, now plaits are the one thing I always forget to do. I've had short hair for years and it wasn't until very recently that I remembered how pretty they can be. So here's a little plait that's pinned back.
Day 18 - the day I didn't know what to do and pulled a weird face, also known as the pink ribbon.
Day 19 - flower power part one. What with the sun shining away I figured it was time to go overboard with some flowers.
Day 20 - flower power part two. Now this is a rare occurrence, the fringe is away! A tidy little French plait to get my over grown fringe out of my eyes, decorated with little paper flowers that I found under my bed from my crafting days.
Day 21 - I'm not sure what to call this, I have had Princess Leia and a chick from Sailor Moon (I have no idea what that is either) but I prefer to think of it as 90s Gwen Stefani inspired look.
And with three weeks of hair under my belt I'm done, well, until I discover something fun to do.

Kate's bagged herself a prince

I love weddings and I love the Royal Family, so today when I heard that Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton I almost squealed with joy! I was at work so I did manage to contain my squeal, it was more of a muffled squeak. I am so excited to see the dresses at their wedding next spring/summer but this does mean that there's yet another prince that has not proposed to me. I may never become a princess at this rate!

He has given her Diana's stunning ring, no matter how beautiful it is I do think it's a litter weird and I hope that the press don't start comparing the poor girl to Diana.

Look at their shiny, happy faces. Doesn't Kate have just perfect hair? I've very jealous of both her hair and that one day she'll be a queen.

Vintage Roll Lust

So most of you probably know that I'm a little obsessed my my hair.. Ok, I admit it, I utterly obsessed! And after taking part in a feature on Hair Advice And All Things Nice called Salon Surgery I have been trying to perfect a perfect victory roll, see my first attempt here and my second, much better one:

But to continue my dreams of being able to perfect the victory roll I've found some good inspiration!

This is just gorgeous right? Even that shade of red is superb! Found here.

These original rolls are to die for! Luckily I found a tutorial with this image on the Aubrey London Pin Up blog, view the tutorial here.

And finally these over the top - but in such a good way - rolls! Sadly I only found them on Pinterest and I can't find where it's originally from. But I adore them nonetheless.

Have you had a go at victory rolls? I'd love to see how you've got on, or any good tutorials to improve mine. Happy rolling!
